Born: March 17, 2001

Padraig

Hello, my name is Padraig, aka Paddy, fussy boy, little voice, nose kisser, hair chewer and blue kitty boy. I am a grey and white tiger stripped Tabby kitty with a white chest, belly and paw tips. I have what mom calls "classic cat eyes" which are almond shaped and gold/green. When I was little they were deep blue, then bright green for a while and now that I am over a year old they have become a greenish/gold color - sometimes more green than gold. I wear a blue collar - goes nicely with my grey and white stripes - so my background and page are blue. Mom had always thought that Michael was going to be her "devil kitty" but I have taken that title all for myself! I can manage to get into just about anything - and I am really good at "stealing" things of mom's!

On March 17th I was 8 years old. I've become quite the attention seeking lover! I also love to chew on mom's hair, arm, or anything else I can when I want extra attention. What??

I've gotten used to MacTavish and he's become "MY" dog. Love to play with him and give him a bath - he tries to clean me, but he's just so slobbery! Sleep by him on the bed and when he's in the playpen I sleep on the bed watching down at him so that he's not alone.

I've got grandma pretty well trained. When she comes in the house to pick up the dogs I run to the ottoman in the family room and rollover on to my back. Lets grandma know that it is time to brush me and scratch my belly!

Recent Happenings:

Michael & I have had to pay more attention to Alexander since Diarmid passed to the bridge in January. I do my best, although he is "Michael's dog". Diarmid was my buddy, do miss him. Mom says that a new puppy brother will be coming home in September. Right now he's only a week old and doesn't have a name quite yet. I will teach him how to roll over and get a good belly scratch - that is my favorite!

I have grandma quite well trained. When she comes to pick up Alexander each morning I run to the ottoman in the family room for her to give me a good brushing. She gets a "whole cat" each time. What can I say, I have a lovely thick coat!

Life History:

I was born on March 17, 2001. That's how I got my name - Padraig is Gaelic for Patrick and I was born on St. Patrick's Day after all! Anyway, our mom was rescued by a lady when she was just pregnant with us, so the nice lady took care of her and us until we were six weeks old. If we weren't adopted out by 4/29 we were going to go to the A.P.L. where Michael was. Anyway, mom talked to the nice lady and found out I had four sisters. So, first she stopped at the A.P.L. and got Michael, and then she came and picked me up. I was so happy to see her and just wanted to cuddle. I am five days younger than Michael, but at six weeks of age I was the larger of the two (not any more). Our foster mom fed us lots of good food and we were very healthy.

Anyway, I went out to the car in a little blue box that mom had and lo and behold there was a black and white kitty asleep in there too! His name is Michael and we take turns being "in charge". Well, we got to our new home and found these two big white guys there. Mom told me they were dogs, but I had never seen one before. Diarmid snarled at me and walked away but the other guy, Alexander was curious. I had such a little meow (still do) and he cocked his head funny and walked away. Mom put us in a big cardboard box with a nice plush rug, litterbox, food and toys and I went right to sleep. Spent the first couple of nights in the box next to mom's bed until she got our kennel "remodeled" for us. It used to be our angel sibling Maxie's "time out" space. Got new shelves, new wheels and a good coat of paint to the base. It's got lots of room (2x3x4ft) and we love to play in it. Has all the comforts - litterbox, play toys, bed, food and water - what more could a guy ask for? Mom only makes us stay in there when she's not at home. I guess she just doesn't trust us yet!

So far I have managed to loose my blue collar with my nametag and mom is perplexed. See, we aren't allowed in the basement or upstairs yet, so mom can't figure out where I put it. She's checked out every room, under every piece of furniture, cushion and closet and can't find it. Geesh, I don't know what I did with it. For now she put me in the little blue leather collar that Michael had at the APL. I don't have a nametag since it is somewhere with my bright blue collar. Hey, I'm little, I don't remember much yet.

Diarmid & I have become buddies - its a "Gaelic name thing" and Michael is usually around Alexander. Although, Alexander is cool. We play "kitty spinning". I run up to him and pounce on his feet and he flips me with his nose and I spin across the hardwood floor. Get up and run back for more! You should try it sometime - quite a rush!

Michael and I joined CLAW - a club for cats who purr and serve. We figure we will have a lot to add to their group for kitties who live with dogs! Here is our membership card:

Spring of 2002 I joined Cats in Company along with Michael. Pooh and Maxie are members (even from heaven) and so we decided to join too. Here's their nifty logo:

I turned one year old on March 17, 2002. Like Michael I got to have some provolone cheese as a treat on my birthday. Ummmmm, I do love cheese! Mom had some computer problems around our birthdays and still has to retrieve our birthday greetings and such. While she is home recuperating from surgery over the next months we'll be getting caught up on all sorts of web stuff!

I have helped to entertain mom while she was home recuperating from her knee surgeries in 2002/2003. I'm the "good kitty" since I didn't jump on her bandaged knees! I always go for the top of the chair behind her head or on the arm to get a good scratch! I did learn to be a people kitty even more when she was home with us and now I really miss her when she's not here. As soon as someone comes in the door I am there to flop over for a good belly rub!

2004 was a good year. Enjoyed helping mom around the house. Uncle Rob and Aunt Terri came to visit at the holidays and I got lots of petting and tummy rubs.

For my birthday in 2005 mom gave me little shreds of real turkey. Yummmmmm. Love that and little tid bits of cheese. I will steal if from Michael without a single thought!

Christmas 2006 Uncle Rob & Aunt Terri came to visit. Diarmid was slowing down and didn't play too much so I got more attention. I continue to steal anything of Aunt Terri's that isn't locked up or closed off. I love her fur muff and her jewelry!

We lost Diarmid on January 24, 2007. The house hasn't been the same without him. He was my buddy. Then on September 7th mom brought home the "little rat" MacTavish who tries to chase me all over. I hid for the first 24 hours, then hissed for a while. Now I just stare him down and whap him on the head with my paw when necessary. I guess he's not all that bad after all.

Well, MacTavish has become my best doggie buddy. Must be that gaelic name thing again. He's now so pesky now that he's getting older.

Well, this page will grow along with me. As I said, I haven't been here all that long to write about yet. Michael and I have our own "Two Kitties - Cat House" site like Diarmid & Alexander's Two Westies site. We even have six pages of pictures in our photogallery. Stop by and check them out. They are listed by the months so you can "watch us grow".
