Isn't Life Strange

Page Two

Here you will meet our "second cousins" Belle who lives with cousin Bernie and his family, Peach who is Belle's sister and lives with Bernie's eldest son Bryan in Chicago and Isis and Tripod who live in Atlanta with cousins Kathy and Rob.

There are two new cousins - Sadie has come to live with cousin Bernie and his family after the death of Sheila's dad - Lou last month. In Atlanta, Dunstan (I think thats the name) has come to live with Kathy and Rob. Need to get pictures and info on them to add to the page.

Peach
Peach

This is Peach, a little Minature Schnauzer lady who lives with cousin Bryan in Chicago. Peach is his "baby" and was the runt of the litter. Bryan got Peach around Easter here in Ohio and took her back with him to Chicago at the end of his visit. He's even put in a webcam in his apartment so he can keep an eye on her from work! Bryan describes her as sort of lazy and likes to sleep alot.

If you're wondering about the name, you can thank Bryan's sister Amy for that one. While trying to come up with a name for her (well, besides, "No, don't do that") Amy decided she looked like a little fuzzy peach. Hence the name. It is Peach, not peaches!

Have not had the pleasure of meeting Peach in person yet. She has come with Bryan for visits, but we weren't able to get over and see her (work schedule just didn't match up). We hear she likes to visit her big sister Belle. She even has a new cousin - her grandpa Rocco has a new puppy to play with too! There are a couple more pictures of her in the Cousins Photogallery - stop by and check them out. As Bryan sends us more pictures, we will add them to the photogallery.

Peach
Belle

This is Belle, according to Sheila it's short for Jezibelle. She "stole" my cousin Bernie's heart I think! Anyway, Belle is Peache's bigger sister, another Minature Schnauzer lady. About a week after Bryan picked up Peach and returned to Chicago, his dad Bernie decided to go and see if the other sister was still available. The lady was very excited - seems someone had put a deposit on her and then changed their minds so she was still there for them if they wanted her. Bernie said "of course" and home she came.

Diarmid and Alexander got to first meet Belle when she was about three months old - my what a fiesty little lady. Diarmid has met his match! She stood nose to nose with him and barked away. Scared Alexander, he just likes everyone. Had to laugh because she was so tiny, but what a voice. I think she's going to be a handful in the future!

There are a couple of early pictures of Belle in the Cousin's Photogallery. As Bernie sends me more I will add them. She is almost a two now and very spoiled. Bernie has a home office where he works most the time (occasionally goes in to the regular office) so there is just about always someone with her! I hear that Bernie will have to return to the office in June, so Belle is not going to be too happy!

Isis
Isis

Meet Isis, a lovely Tabby lady who lives with Cousin's Kathy & Rob in Atlanta. Here is her story as told by cousin Kathy:

"It was a typical Saturday. Rob and I were out running around getting things done. We stopped at Kroger because we needed some cash from the bank inside. Rob went in but I didn't. When he returned to the car Rob told me I HAD to see this kitty that was in front of Kroger. A woman was looking for a new home for her. I told him I didn't need to see some goofy cat so away we went although we had to drive away passing in front of the cat. Rob waved good-bye.

We were driving down the road and Rob just wouldn't stop talking about the stupid cat. He was driving me NUTS! I finally said, if you want the thing, stop and turn around, NEVER thinking he would because we were almost to our destination. He jumped on the brakes, made a quick "U" turn and back we went. When our mini van arrived, the cat was in this little kid's arms when the lady looked up at Rob driving in. When she saw him, she just whipped the cat right out of the little one's arms and yelled, "I knew you would be back!" Isis was 12 weeks old at that time. Apparently, the father developed allergies so they had to get rid of the cat. So did I (I'm allergic. . . MENTALLY) but we kept her. The woman handed Isis to Rob and handed me all of her flea products (I thought she was an indoor cat????) That was 1994. She has beautiful icy blue eyes, so we named her Isis. The real Isis is the goddess of fertility so we immediately had her spayed. She's been on road trips with Shy and Poco which included visits and travel through Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Michigan, and Ohio. She moved with us to Vienna, Austria. She was in Paris for a day when she and Poco were returning to the states. She's living out her kitty life with us back in Georgia, trying to adjust to the crazy new kid, Tripod."

Isis is truly Rob's cat. Kathy refers to her as "the prodigal cat" & "the stupid cat" in her e-mails. When I was in Vienna on vacation a few years back got to see her doing "kitty flips" with Rob (quite by accident, but funny none the less) who was shocked. She lived with Shy and Poco for a number of years and we just know that she will eventually get used to Tripod! As we get more pictures of her we will add to the Cousin's Photogallery.

Tripod
Tripod

Tripod was adopted on February 25, 2003 came from the Humane Society of Cobb County where Kathy does volunteer work. Here is his story from Kathy:

"Tripod arrived at Cobb County Humane Society (HSCC) in October of 2002 with a deformed and painful front leg. Apparently, he lived in a trailer park and was run over by a truck. The owners never took him to the vet. He was running from trailer to trailer for food and shelter. Finally, he was brought into HSCC for help.

HSCC took him to their vet. Long story short, to save the leg, it would cost $2,000-$3,000 with no guarantee that it would heal or be pain free. They made the humane decision to amputate. The vet was kind enough to charge at his cost. It's been 2 months and Tripod gets around as if he never had a fourth leg.

He's 51 pounds and approximately 10 months old. The popular guess is he's an Irish Wolfhound/Poodle mix. Tripod was on TV twice with no calls for adoption. Each time I would go to the center and walk/exercise him, I would feel it was such a shame to waste a great dog in a crate for the rest of his life. I brought him to my house for more extensive exercise last Monday and Saturday I adopted him. He only visits HSCC to visit his Min Pin friend, Fred, and the wonderful staff that works there.

He will be a "special needs" dog as he gets older, but I believe he's worth the effort. We are working with him to get in and out of the car and use our basement steps. After some minor training classes and his Canine Good Citizenship certificate, my plans are to use him as a therapy dog in children's hospitals and nursing homes. His story and example of courage will be an inspiration to those hospitalized."

Kathy has decided to make March 17th his birthday. Appropriate since her maiden name is Murphy! Anyway, Tripod has started his obedience classes with Kathy. The first night he really didn't want to do anything so he layed down, missing leg side up for sympathy. Didn't get any from his instructor! Anyway, he's been chasing Isis and they have had to close off an area upstairs so that she at least can get away from him from time to time. Isis hasn't had a puppy to deal with in her life - Shy and Poco were older dogs when she first met them. We're sure she'll get used to him sooner or later.

You can see more pictures of Tripod and Isis on the Cousin's Photogallery page. We will update as he grows up!
