Welcome to my page. My name is officially Alexander MacTavish Mor. To
those who love me (and that is just about everyone!) I am a.k.a. Alexander, Alex, Ally-doodle, doodle-bug, Xander, cuddle bum, snuggler,
smoocher, sweet pea, the talker, drama queen, and Red-Boy ('cause of my red collar). Because of my various nick names my
background is the red westie and my colors are red. My song is "Bonidoon", being that I am Scottish and all. I love attention,
attention, attention - I can't be held "too much" or give "too many" kisses! I was 10 years old on August 3rd. Now that MacTavish is bigger than me, I look like I'm the puppy! I do love my "little" brother, he's fun. One of my favorite things to do is play tag with MacTavish in grandma's back yard. You see, I'm a good yard dog and don't have to wear a leash when someone is outside with me. I do as told (unlike MacTavish much of the time). He's on a 10 foot lead and I run just outside is reach and run like heck in a circle till he sort of catches me, then I run out of his reach again. We have lots of fun with that one. I enjoyed seeing Uncle Rob & Aunt Terri at Thanksgiving. Uncle Rob gives us lots of attention - walks- attention - walks. Unfortunately I had to have surgery on my head November 23rd, so I didn't get to roughhouse and do things like usual - I still had stitches in my head. Here is my picture with Santa that was taken December, 2009. What do you think of me? Still trying to get the staining from the betadine prep for surgery off of my coat around my left ear. It is getting better, but will take a couple more peroxide washes whenI get my baths to take it completely out. Who ever heard of using betadine to prep a white dog!

more, something about "work" being busy - hey, don't I count??!!
Now that it is winter my allergies are doing well and I have a lovely Westie coat. MacTavish is a show-off, he's
got this thick, thick coat - pain in the butt!!
Our Two Westies Place is now on the Parvi sed magni Westies All Over the World topsites list. This is
our banner that you will see on the page.

I've gotten pretty good at telling stories. Well, here's a little about my life to date.....

We've had a visitor a number of weekends in July through mid August and he give us all kinds of attention. Mom was feeling a bit left out since all four of us would run to Ted and sit on him, get petted and all the attention in the world - like mom doesn't even exist. Mom went to Houston in May and MacTavish and I got to stay at grandma and grandpa's instead of the kennel. At first I had to sleep in the playpen with MacTavish. Grandpa had had shoulder surgery and we couldn't sleep with them. Then he decided it was more comfortable to sleep in the recliner downstairs (which was next to the playpen) so then we both got to sleep on the bed with grandma - much better!

I was born in Washington, Pennsylvania on August 3, 1999. It's way out in the country and the owner of our little was a nice guy who's family had lots of animals around. My mom was Stickey Nikki (interesting name) and my dad was Whispering Oaks Hi Sparks (hmmm, another interesting name). As a little little baby I had my sibblings, my parents and all sorts of cat and dog aunts and uncles to keep me company. There was even a pigmy goat who thought she was a doggie too. Once all my baby sibblings had found new homes my owner would take me to bed with him - he even had a ramp for me to crawl up. Well, on November 20th I was playing with my mom, my half sister and my aunts and cousins when this lady came with her Westie named Diarmid to see the rescue girl Alexandria that my owner's mom Miss Beth, was working with. We were hoping that she would take her home. Well, I was watching out the patio door at their meeting. It looked like it was going OK, when Alexandria tried to attack that nice doggie Diarmid. So, she got put back into the kennel and Miss Beth had Diarmid and his mom Laurie come in the house to relax - the guy was really shaken over that one! My animal family immediately went to Diarmid to say "Hi" and show him that we weren't bad and liked him. My mom and sister and poodle auntie were really cuddling up to him. Well, this guy is rather a handsome Westie - maybe I'll be that handsome when I grow up. Anyway, I really wanted to get in on the fun and tried to jump up on to the couch to join in the fun. I couldn't get up there, so the nice lady Laurie picked me up and put me down next to Diarmid. Laurie seemed a little worried about me and Diarmid, but he liked me. Besides, I know my proper puppy manners. I rolled over and showed Diarmid my belly so he would know that I knew he was in charge. He just gave me a kiss. Miss Beth and this lady Laurie were talking. Next thing I know my owner David said I was "for sale" and Laurie said "we'll take him". We all played for a little while and then Diarmid and I were put in the car with Laurie - MY NEW MOM! It was a long ride home, but I didn't mind much. Heck, I really slept most of the way. One thing though, you know those puppy dreams?? Well, every time I had one I would whimper and then Diarmid would come over to see what was wrong. Ever woke up to find a great big Westie face in yours - it startled me and I would yelp. Finally, I went and layed on my new mom's lap to the left and Diarmid layed next to her on the right. We listened to music and drove to my new home.
![]() Hmmm, where to begin. Mom was perturbed with me for quite a few months. WHAT??? I only ate two pairs of shoes, Oops, make that three.., Oops, make that four....., the leather pull straps off one pair of boots, Oops, make that the entire pair of boots now...., the rear deck of mom's car, two Celtic music CD's, two CD-roms, one footstool, Diarmid's coat and Diarmid's sweater, Diarmid's retractable leash, my retractable leash, Diarmid's training collar, the arm of the rec room sofa and now chewing a hole through the new cover she put it on to get to the old sofa below, (hey, I left it alone for about two months, that should count for something!) one stuffed pillow in the backseat of the car, one Coach purse (completely) and one Coach purse (just ever so slightly), a box of 100 tea bags, a box of 100 envelopes, a ream of colored paper, variety of toys, and the trash can contents on a daily basis. Again I ask WHAT??? There were lots and lots of toys here when I came, but I say "hey, what's a toy if you can't destroy it!". I've removed the squeakers from the squeaky toys and pulled the hat and antlers off of Diarmid's favorite stuffed toy "Dasher". I love to steal my mom's slippers and shoes and socks and clothes and towels and more and more and more. Finally got my four generation pedigree. Seems I have two Champions in my past - CH Mac-Ken-Char's Friday's Child and CH Tweed Take By Storm who appears to be originally from Sweden. My mom says I'm a "champion" all right - champion of chewing! But, I do get along so well with Diarmid. Hey, and I can finally lift my leg to pee like a big boy without falling over. Heck - it's not as easy as it looks ladies! Had my surgery on May 1, 2000 - it went well, but this colitis from the stress and different food is a real pain in the butt - quite literally! My vet put me on Flagyl and Pepto Bismol tablets (1/2 twice a day) and I felt much better. I wanted to run and play but mom said NO!! Finally got them out on May 15th - grandma took me since mom was at work. The people at my vets called me a "wiggle worm". Hey, it tickles!! But, I gave them hugs and kisses to make up for my squirming when they were all done. Grandma took Diarmid and I straight home to her house and gave me a bath. Seems everyone felt I was a little "stinky" since I had not been able to have a bath for two weeks. Humans!!
![]() I couldn't seem to stop trying to dismantle the basement recroom sofa. It smelled so strange - there were lots of dogs and cats I can sense but have never met. Mom scolded me and I HATED that, but she said that I have to learn to behave like a good puppy. I guess Diarmid never did that sort of stuff, so I'm usually on the "bad list". After doing the sofa dismantle trick I moved to the legs of the rocking chair and the arms of the armchair that were down in the rec room where we stay during the day. Mom was really not happy with me, I give her kisses and kisses and kisses to make up for it. Grandma and grandpa got us new rec room furniture that is framed in metal so that I can't chew it. I guess that I am an expensive little guy. Hey, I just like new stuff thats all!!
![]() I had a wonderful 2nd birthday in 2001. Mom took me (well, Diarmid got to come too) to get soft serve vanilla ice cream - yum, yum, yum. Glad that I am not a larger breed doggie who is bothered by dairy products. I personally love ice cream and cottage cheese and it doesn't bother me in the least (or Diarmid either, so that is lucky). Mom is home on vacation this week, so we get some quality spoiling time. Not like we aren't spoiled. When mom is at work in the operating room, we spend most of the day with grandma and grandpa - so who could be mad about that?!
![]() August 3, 2002 was my 3rd birthday! Mom and grandma took me (well, and Diarmid too) to Dairy Queen for our ice cream cones. My my, I do so love birthdays. The "birthday boy" sits on mom's lap and the "visitor" sits on grandma's lap while we enjoy our cones. I do so love that soft-serve stuff! They always say (exactly who "they" are, we aren't sure) that doggies can't digest dairy. Hmmm, both Diarmid and I love dairy products and when we're ill we prefer a little bit of milk or cottage cheese to settle our tummies. Our angel brother Angus and angel cousin MacGregor were the same way. Hmmm, must be a Westie and Cairn thing since the four of us always loved dairy products.
![]() August 3, 2003 was my 4th birthday. I'm up to a whopping 15 pounds - still a "little guy" according to mom. I got a new red collar that also has some lovely ribbon work with doggie bones and treats on it for the design. Also got a new red retractable Flexi-lead too. Had the traditional East Coast Original Custard vanilla cone - yummm! I am the red birthday boy!
![]() August 3, 2004 was my 5th birthday. That day grandpa got knocked down from a high ladder and broke lots of his bones. He was in the hospital for lots of time - I missed him a lot. Grandma and mom took Diarmid and I out for my ice cream a coule days later once we knew grandpa would be OK.
![]() In June 2005 mom and Aunt Terri went to Scotland for a couple weeks and grandma stayed with us. Uncle Rob came up from Texas for a long weekend and stayed here so we had lots of walks. On June 20th, while mom was gone, I had to have surgery to remove my right mandibular and submandibular salivary glands - I had developed a cyst that would not let them drain, so they had to be removed. Mom came home from vacation to see me with a shaved head and neck and a long incision. It has healed nicely and the fur is starting to regrow. The shorter haircut made it less noticeable.
![]() August 3, 2005 was my 6th birthday. Diarmid and I went for the annual birthday cones. What would a birthday be without that one?
![]() August 3, 2006 was my 7th birthday. Once again Diarmid and I went for the annual birthday cones. My allergies were bad this year and I got put on Atopica to help with the allergies, along with continued use of my allergy shots. Geesh, I dislike getting those weekly shots.
![]() On January 24, 2007 Diarmid passed away leaving me as the "lone dog" in the household. Has taken some gettnig used to not having a brother to play and run with. I miss that, but still spend lots of time with grandma and grandpa. Grandma chases me around the house and plays fetch to keep me active. ![]() I became the"older brother" of a Cairn Terrier male puppy on July 5, 2007. In August I went with mom and grandma to PA and got to meet the two puppies and their mom. I picked out my new brother - they both smelled alike, but I liked one more than the other - I gave him a kiss. No matter whether mom or grandma was holding him I knew which one he was. So, I am officially the big brother of MacTavish. I was 8 years old in August 2007. But, everyone says I still look like I'm just a puppy. I live in Ohio with my mom Laurie and two 6 year-old kitty brothers named Michael and Padraig. I am waiting my new Cairn baby brother MacTavish.. Then I will get to be the "big puppy brother" like Diarmid was to me. Actually, Diarmid was 8 when I came home, so it is just like him. On September 7th he came home and life has not been the same. I've been showing him the ropes and he follows me everywhere! Love to wrestle and play. Best part is that I still go to Grandma's every day. We come back a time or two a day to let the little rat out and play with him. Last weekend he had the nerve to get in grandpa's lap, can you believe that one?! The nerve of him, he's my grandpa! I was 9 in August 2008. I still look like the baby compared to MacTavish - svelt and trim guy. My fur has done great and my allergies are doing so much better. Mom put a fence along the driveway side of the yard so that we have an entirely closed yard. I love to run! |
